There is currently legislation to end the slaughter of horses, H.R. 503 and S.576, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. This legislation was introduced by Senator Ensign on April 2004 and again in Feburary 2005 and Senator Robert Byrd in March 2005. The measure will prohibit the slaughter of horses for human consumption. It also will prohibit the trade and transport of horseflesh and live horses intended for human consumption. It is pending in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
We have designed this reminder band with the debossed message "AMERICANS DON'T EAT HORSES".
Our objective is to raise awareness among this nation's caring public and to gather support for the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act.
Wear a band around your wrist, give one to a friend, or better yet send one to your state senator or house representative and ask them to support H.R. 503, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act.
