WILD HORSE RESCUE RANCH

Earn a Horse Volunteer Program

Potential adopters may qualify to do volunteer work at Lifesavers Rescue Ranch in exchange for their adopted horse. The number of hours required to work depends on the adoption donation fee for each horse. Each hour worked will be credited at $5 off the adoption donation after the initial $100 deposit is paid. The deposit is nonrefundable and will be subtracted from the balance of the adoption donation. The remaining amount may be worked off through the Earn A Horse Volunteer Program during the 3 to 6 month sponsorship period prior to adoption. Please read the Sponsorship Agreement for terms of the Earn a Horse Volunteer Program.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, or accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parent or guardian will be expected to work alongside volunteer minor and be responsible for their actions and their safety.

Volunteers are welcome to enlist their friends and family members to work with them to earn additional hours toward the adoption of their horse. Each additional volunteer will earn credit hours for adopter. Two volunteers will earn twice as much credit toward the horse. Five volunteers would only need to work 16 hours each to pay off a $400 adoption donation balance. Each 8 hour day of volunteer work is worth $40 off the donation balance.

Volunteer duties will be mainly cleaning stalls and corrals, with a possibility of other varied tasks depending on need. Volunteers must be scheduled during normal ranch visitor hours - Tuesday through Saturday. We are closed for visitors and volunteers Sunday, Monday and major holidays.

Working or playing with your own sponsored horse does not qualify as volunteer work. Attending classes and clinics as a participant does not qualify as volunteer work.

Volunteer must live in the general vicinity of our ranch, or be willing to commute.

Volunteers scheduled to work are expected to show up and be on time. Those who do not stick with their schedule will lose the volunteer program privelege. In this case the Volunteer/Adopter must pay the balance of adoption donation prior to taking possession of their horse.

Volunteer hours are not redeemable for cash. Should volunteer adopter change their mind about adopting, or return their horse, they will not be reimbursed for any volunteer work completed.
