AGREEMENT dated ____________________ between Lifesavers, Inc. 23809 E. Avenue J., Lancaster, CA 93535 (Lifesavers), and ______________________________________________________________________ (Sponsor).
Whereas Sponsor wishes to adopt a Lifesavers, Inc. owned animal known as (name) ________________________________________ (Animal), the following terms and conditions shall apply:
a) Sponsor agrees to pay a sponsorship fee on a monthly basis to Lifesavers in the amount of $____________ on the ____________ day of each month for a period of six (6) months prior to adoption approval;
b) Sponsor agrees that Lifesavers will be responsible for the feeding, cleaning and overall management of their chosen horse with exceptions stated herein;
c) Sponsor agrees to be responsible for making arrangements and paying costs of farrier and routine vet needs of their sponsored horse;
d) Sponsor agrees to attend one Lifeavers educational clinic per month at no charge;
e) Sponsor agrees to spend quality time with their chosen horse at the Lifesavers ranch as much as their personal schedule will allow;
f)Sponsor agrees that the sponsorship period is an opportunity to learn about horse care and specifically the horse that they wish to adopt and that it does not guarantee Adoption Approval by the Lifesavers board members;
g) Sponsor agrees that the sponsorship period is an opportunity for Lifesavers to get to know the potential adopter and to judge their level of comittment and dedication to chosen horse and will use said judgement to aid in the Adoption Approval process.
h) Sponsor agrees that Lifesavers may deny their adoption application any time during the sponsorship period and terminate this Sponsorship Agreement.
i) Sponsor agrees that reasons for termination of this agreement and denial of adoption of chosen horse may include, but not be limited to 1) failure to pay monthly sponsorship fee; 2) failure to meet the horse's farrier and/or vet needs; 3) inability to spend quality time with chosen horse; 4) failure to attend educational clinics and workshops; 5) mismatch of personality or skills to chosen horse; 6) any sign of unwillingness or irresponsibility with regard to any aspect of horse care, education, or finances.
j) Sponsor agrees and understands that horses are unpredictable at times and may cause injury or even death. Sponsor agrees to sign an insurance liability waiver giving up their right to hold Lifesaver responsible for any injury to themselves, or to any property caused by horses or staff of the Lifesavers facility;
THE FOLLOWING TERMS APPLY ONLY TO "EARN A HORSE VOLUNTEERS"
k) Sponsor/Volunteer agrees to schedule ______________ number of hours per month to work at the Lifesavers ranch in exchange for discount on Adoption Fee of chosen horse at a rate of $5 per volunteer hour. Monthly sponsorship fees will still be in effect.
l) Sponsor/Volunteer agrees their right to the Earn A Horse Program may be revoked if they fail to work their scheduled hours each month; or if they fail to abide by ranch safety rules; or if they fail to follow directions of Lifesavers ranch staff members; or if they fail to perform the volunteer duties requested of them. Sponsor/Volunteer also agrees and understands that any failure of the Earn A Horse Program may cause them denial of adoption as well.
m) Sponsor/Volunteer agrees that all hours worked at the ranch is to be considered volunteer only and shall not be redeemable in cash or any other form of currency except as a discount of adoption fees. If Adopter/Volunteer is denied adoption, volunteer hours worked are non-refundable.
n) Sponsor/Volunteer agrees that time spent with their own horse during work hours, or time spent attending classes or clinics does not qualify as volunteer hours and will not be added to the volunteer hour time sheet.
o) This agreement is binding under the laws of the state of California.
