Your past support helped Lifesavers rescue wild mustangs, burros, and domestic horses from neglect, abandonment, surrender, and the slaughter pipeline. Because you cared, rescued horses received food, veterinary attention, shelter, patient training, and a protected future.

Rains was one of those horses. She was found alone in the desert, severely dehydrated and dangerously underweight. With careful feeding, medical attention and compassionate care, she regained her strength and trust. Rains went on to enjoy years of happiness, safety, and love. Supporters like you made her recovery possible.

The need for compassionate care continues

Today, Lifesavers cares for approximately 400 rescued horses across our properties, giving them full bellies, safe homes, and the care they need each day. More than 45 senior horses now require specialized pellets because they can no longer properly chew or process hay. A recent delivery of 1,000 bags cost $15,000 and may last only a little over two months as more horses develop age-related dietary needs.

Every horse follows a different path. Some need emergency transportation and veterinary treatment. Some learn to trust through patient, natural-horsemanship-based training before finding adoptive homes. Others receive lifelong care within our 1,000-plus-acre natural-habitat sanctuary.
